Bill Wonderlin, Ph.D.
Distinguished Teaching Award
Bill Wonderlin was presented with a Distinguished Teaching Award for his efforts in graduate education. The award was presented by Jim Brick, Interim Dean of the School of Medicine, at a ceremony held on April 20, 2009. Bill plays a leading role in the first year curriculum as the course coordinator of the Cell Structure and Function course. In addition to teaching in this course, Bill also teaches in Readings in Neuroscience and Current Topics in Biochemistry. His dedication to graduate education was exemplified last fall when he realized students in the Cell Structure and Function course required additional instruction in experimental techniques. Bill organized a series of informal sessions and recruited colleagues to assist in teaching this additional content. These informal sessions were so well received, that an official course is planned for Fall 2009. In addition to graduate teaching, Bill also lectures in classes in the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Bill joined the Department of Pharmacology at WVU in 1991 and the Department of Biochemistry in 2001. His research interests are in the area of the ER and the transport of molecules between the lumen of the ER and the cytosol. Congratulations Bill...!!
