The Department of Neurosurgery has an active residency training program and faculty with expertise in cranial, neurovascular, pediatrics, spine, epilepsy, functional, neuro-oncology and skull-based subspecialties. Strong collaboration exists with Neurology, Neuroscience, and Neuroradiology; our number of neurovascular procedures is among the highest in the country. West Virginia University Neurosurgery faculty members staff three regional hospitals in addition to West Virginia University Hospital (WVUH) which serves as the academic hub. WVUH is a 645-bed teaching hospital, a nationally-recognized Level One Trauma Center and is well-equipped with spacious operating rooms and a Gamma Knife. Our neurosurgeons also perform surgery and take trauma callĀ at Wheeling Hospital and United Hospital Center (UHC) in Bridgeport.
