Discussion leaders named for Post-Charlottesville Town Hall

Seven volunteer discussion leaders will take part in the Health Sciences-WVU Medicine Town Hall this Wednesday (Sept. 20) at noon in the Patteson Auditorium at WVU.

The forum was organized in response to the tragic events on and around the campus of the University of Virginia last month to discuss what we are doing - and what we can do better - to build and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment for our students, faculty, patients, staff and visitors. 

Discussion leaders will be:

• Lisa Costello – assistant professor of pediatrics, WVU Medicine, member of the Health Sciences Diversity & Inclusion Task Force
• Sandra (Sam) Cotton – associate professor in the WVU School of Nursing, 34-year U.S.  Air Force veteran
• David Fryson – WVU vice president for the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
• Nishtha Modi, WVU medical student
• Renee Nicholson – assistant professor of multidisciplinary studies. Eberly College, and co-leader of the narrative medicine project at the WVU Cancer Institute
• Shelia Price – associate dean in the WVU School of Dentistry, member of the Health Sciences Diversity & Inclusion Task Force
• Nova Szoka – assistant professor of surgery, WVU Medicine

Clay Marsh, MD will moderate the event.
