Scholarships available to cover tobacco treatment training program fee

The West Virginia University School of Dentistry is offering scholarships for an online, self-paced continuing education opportunity for participants desiring a tobacco treatment specialist certificate. These scholarships are supported by grant funding from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources-Bureau of Public Health, Division of Tobacco Prevention for WV practitioners/Educators and a WVU Community Engagement grant for WV pharmacists.

The Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program (CTTTP) fills a need in West Virginia, which has one of the highest tobacco use rates in the nation. The goal is to train healthcare providers to treat tobacco use disorder with evidence-based tobacco cessation strategies. Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists (CTTS) target an individual’s nicotine addiction level and provide effective cessation interventions using pharmacotherapy and counseling.

Participants may qualify for a scholarship covering the course registration fee.
If you are an interested health care practitioner, educator or pharmacist employed in West Virginia, complete the Scholarship Application for TTS Training form. Applicants must have a minimum of an Associate Degree and be employed in West Virginia.

Scholarship recipients will receive an acknowledgment email from M. Suann Gaydos, Director, WVU School of Dentistry’s Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program once the course registration is available.

Check the WVU School of Dentistry continuing education page for details on this course and other upcoming opportunities.
