WVU Medicine Dermatology adds three new doctors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Michael Kolodney, M.D., Ph.D., Min Deng, M.D., and Omid Jalali, M.D., have joined WVU Medicine Dermatology.

Dr. Kolodney, the section’s new chief, came to Morgantown from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, where he served as dermatology section chief and program director. Prior to that, he held various positions at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he discovered and clinically developed deoxycholate injections for the elimination of double chin.

He received his medical degree and his Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his dermatology and internal medicine residency and dermatology research fellowship at UCLA.

Kolodney is board certified in internal medicine and dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Association of Professors of Dermatology, and the Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Dr. Deng specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, which, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “has come to be accepted as the single most effective technique for removing basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, the two most common skin cancers” because “it has the lowest recurrence rates, highest cure rates, and best cosmetic results of any skin cancer treatment.”

She received her medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. She then completed her dermatology residency at the University of Chicago Medicine followed by a fellowship in micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology at Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey.

Deng is board certified in dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Philadelphia Dermatological Society, the Chicago Dermatological Society, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Jalali received his medical degree from and completed his dermatology residency at the WVU School of Medicine. He is board certified in dermatology.
