HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! - HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER 50TH ANNIVERSARY:  http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/hscweb/News/HSC-Fifty-Years.aspx   The Celebration kicks into full gear next month.  Unfortunately, the biggest celebration is scheduled for 10/15, 4-5 pm, Creative Arts Celebration – a day of testing/end of rotation for all of you.  If, however, you wish a good diversion after a full day – come to the CAC for a very special event! 

CONGRATULATIONS:  To Brittani Ninness, Class of 2011, winner of one of the 2010 RHEP drawing prizes of $250.00.  Her name was one of six drawn from the students who completed all of the RHEP evaluation request forms.

FLU  SHOTS: Will be given at John E Jones at HSC on Wednesday, Sept. 29th (8:00 am to 6:00 pm) and Thursday, Sept. 30th (11:30 Am-5:00 pm) . Cost will be $15. All medical students are encouraged to get a flu shot this fall. The H1N1 virus will be included in the fall flu shot (no extra shot needed this year). Other flu shot clinic dates are on Wednesday Oct. 6th and Tuesday, Oct. 12th at the Rec. Center. (3:00 pm-7:00 pm).

Trick-or-Treat extravaganza  We invite you to join PMIG (Preventative Medicine Interest Group) in our Trick-or-Treat extravaganza for the Boys and Girls Club of Morgantown, WV! It will be held Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00-7:00 pm in the HSC learning center. We will have 1-2 organizations/room and the children will filter around for snacks and activities relevant to the organization.  The purpose of the event is to provide a safe and educational trick-or-treating environment for the children.  Hopefully, they will not only collect treats and engage in activities, but will also leave with an excitement for health! Furthermore, we will be distributing bags of relevant items to the children. HSC RURAL HEALTH FAIR:  All students ENCOURAGED to attend.  Tuesday, November 9, 12:30-4:30 pm, Pylons Lobby.  Take advantage of this opportunity to meet with representatives from the 12 consortiums in the state about the details of their specific clinical rural health programs.

FOLLOWUP SPECIAL REQUEST:  The AAMC has asked us, as a school with response rate below 75%, to encourage our students who have NOT completed the AAMC Matriculating Student Questionnaire to do so.  There is a significant review of the American medical education system currently underway and the data on this survey will be a valuable tool.  https://services.aamc.org/msq/ by September 30th.

BLS CLASS AT THE SIM CENTER:  Remember to check your calendars and keep your BLS certification course at the Sim Center!  We have VERY MINIMAL room for rescheduling.
