Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery is dedicated to serving the needs of patients with peripheral vascular disease in the State of West Virginia and surrounding region. A wide variety of traditional open surgical procedures are offered for the treatment of carotid, aneurysmal, peripheral arterial occlusive disease and dialysis access construction.
In addition, a very busy and active program in endovascular intervention/minimally invasive surgery is conducted including: diagnostic angiography (carotid to tibial, including renal), endovascular aneurysm repair (thoracic and abdominal) using all of the currently FDA approved devices, peripheral arterial intervention, carotid artery angioplasty and stent placement, dialysis access intervention and endovenous RF/laser closure of varicose veins.
The Division also oversees an active ICAVL accredited non-invasive vascular diagnostic laboratory located at Ruby Memorial Hospital/West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc. The vascular laboratory offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including carotid artery duplex imaging, venous duplex imaging, visceral, renal and peripheral arterial duplex imaging, physiologic testing for lower extremity arterial occlusive vascular disease and ultrasound guided thrombin injection for the treatment of iatrogenic femoral artery false aneurysms.
The Division also provides recognized leadership in vascular surgery education locally and regionally. One of the missions of the Division is to reduce the morbidity and disability from vascular disease in the region by participating in educational/outreach programs.
