Director, Cardiovascular Critical Care

West Virginia University Medicine and the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) seeks applicants for an academic faculty position to direct the new Cardiovascular Critical Care service.  This is an exciting opportunity to join the HVI which is scheduled to open its new facility in January 2017. This 10-story tower will be home to WVU’s statewide efforts in cardiovascular quality and research, clinical education, outreach and statewide program development.

We seek applicants who hold an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (foreign educational equivalent accepted) who are ABMS or acceptable equivalent board certified in Critical Care Medicine. Qualified applicants may come from any of the core training programs that lead to critical care training including medicine, surgery, anesthesia or emergency medicine. Applicants with at least 5 years of experience in cardiovascular critical care are encouraged to apply.  This position will be responsible for the creation and oversight of the cardiovascular ICU service.  It is expected that 25%-75% of this faculty’s time will be spent in direct patient care. In addition to critical care coverage, the physician may have the opportunity to supervise medical students, residents and fellows as well as participate in clinical research and other academic activities.  The faculty member will also be a key member of the newly created WVU Critical Care and Trauma Institute that will supervise critical care at WVU.
