WVU Emergency Medicine Residency Program
The WVU Emergency Medicine Residency Program, under the direction of Dr. Hollynn Larrabee, assisted by coordinator Judy Kraycar, focuses on clinical excellence, personal growth, leadership, professional development and resident wellness.
The West Virginia University Department of Emergency Medicine Residency Program was established in 1993. The residency program was conceived in 1984 by the late Dr. Steven Rector, who was the department’s chairman at the time. Through Dr. Rector and other faculty members, the residency program became a reality and accepted its first Emergency Medicine (EM) residents in 1993.
The residency program accepts nine residents per year in its 3-year residency program and one ultrasound felllow per year. The faculty consists of all emergency medicine residency trained physicians board-certified or board eligible in emergency medicine. The program seeks bright, hard-working residents who will not only care but also have compassion for patients.
