WVU's Emergency Medicine Residency Program

West Virginia University Emergency Medicine is a 3 year, ACGME accredited emergency medicine residency, founded in 1993.   The program accepts 10 residents per incoming class.  Training at West Virginia University is broad based--consisting of three clinical sites designed to prepare you for practicing in any emergency care setting you choose upon graduation.

Program Mission

WVU Emergency Medicine Residency’s mission is three-fold:

  1. Provide you with an outstanding, medically sound education so that you will be able to provide care to ANY patient you come in contact with.
  2. Surround you with departmental leadership that strives to provide you with an amazing education through a dynamic, innovative, and evidence-based curriculum.
  3. Continue our track record of graduating residents who are competent to practice independently in ANY emergency care setting.
