Family Medicine Residency Program

Welcome to the online home of the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine!  Our ACGME-accredited program combines the atmosphere of a community-based practice with the extensive resources of a university medical center, resulting in a unique training experience.  The breadth and depth of education received by our graduates has allowed them to pursue diverse career paths, including Independent Practice, Hospitalist Medicine, Urgent Care/Emergency Medicine, Rural Health, and Fellowship (including Geriatrics, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), Sports Medicine, and Sleep Medicine).

The Clark K. Sleeth Family Medicine Center, a 30,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility at University Town Centre, serves as our physical home.  However, our residents also receive their training in various community sites such as Sundale Nursing Home, and other facilities within the WVU Medicine system including Ruby Memorial Hospital, Chestnut Ridge Mental Health Center, the WVU Sports Medicine Center, the WVU Children’s Hospital, and the STEPs (Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety) Center.

Please explore our website and feel free to contact us with any questions regarding our Family Medicine Residency.
