Application Process

Each year the Histotechnology Program admits a limited number of students from the applications received. Application forms for admission to the Histotechnology Program are available December 1st.

Program Application

The application fee is $45.00 for in-state and out-of-state applicants and $60.00 for international applicants. The application deadline is March 15th. In the event that the class is not filled by those applications, the deadline may be extended until as late as the first business day in August.

    • 8 hours of Organic Chemistry (CHEM 233, 235, 234 and 236)
*CHEM 231 Organic Chemistry: Brief Course may be substituted for
CHEM 233, 235, 234 and 236, however two semesters of organic
chemistry are strongly recommended to better prepare for the professional curriculum.
(Transfer students must complete 8 hours of Organic Chemistry including a laboratory.)
  • Mathematics: 3 hours (MATH 126 or higher)
  • Statistics: 3 hours of Statistics (STAT 211 or ECON 225)

Although not required for admission to the Medical Laboratory Science Division, eight credits of Organic Chemistry and eight credits of Physics are suggested as electives for those students interested in applying to medical school.  Students may also consider substituting BIOL 115 and 117 for BIOL 101, 102, 103 and 104.

Direct Admit Program

Students may be admitted directly into the Medical Laboratory Science Division with a high school GPA of 3.75, and a minimum math component ACT score of 26 or a minimum math component SAT score of 600. These students are automatically admitted to the professional program as long as they meet all admission criteria. In addition to the above requirements, direct admit students are required to take PATH 100, 101, 200 and 201.
