Anesthesia - Richard W. Eller Award

Established in 2001 by Anesthesia Chair Robert Johnstone, MD to recognize the fourth-year medical student best demonstrating professionalism, academic achievement, and clinical skills during his/her anesthesiology rotation.

The award consists of a bookstore gift certificate, and public recognition through a mounted plaque in the Department.

The award is named after former Anesthesia Chair, Richard W. Eller, MD. Dr. Eller was educated at Haverford College and the Temple University School of Medicine. He has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at West Virginia University in 1979, and served as Chair of the Department from 1983 to 1989. He had been in the private practice of Anesthesiology for 13 years and 5 additional year in academic practice prior to coming to WVU where he enjoys teaching medical students and residents.
