MS4 Class of 2018

GRADUATION is Friday, May 11 at 6:00 pm in the Creative Arts Center. More details of the weekend will be released soon.

GTR 4 Mark your calendars, GTR 4 – SOAP/Match Data will be held on two occasions: Friday, January 5th from 3-4:30 in G119 and on Friday, January 19th from 3-4:30 pm.

VOLUNTARY RESEARCH SURVEY - Would you participate in a voluntary research survey by dental students to earn 30 minutes of community service?  The survey targets Oral Health and Rural Health at WVU.  Your participation will be confidential and data will be reported in aggregate. Just make sure to hit submit at the end of the survey.   

MS3 Class of 2019

GHHS NOMINATIONS - It’s time to collect peer recommendations and nominations for the Gold Humanism Honor Society for the Class of 2019! The short, 6 (six) question survey will allow you to select up to 3 (three) classmates that you believe best answer those questions. The survey will remain open until 5pm on December 22, 2017.

RURAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM The WVU Department of Family Medicine is pleased to announce that the applications for its innovative Rural Scholars Program are now available. This program is designed for students committed to making rural/small town Family Medicine in West Virginia a career.  Qualified MS III’s are eligible for a $10,000 stipend for their fourth year and facilitated admission to WVU’s Morgantown Family Medicine Residency.  The Rural Scholars Program allows for an enhanced primary care experience in the 4th year curriculum as well as early integration into the residency experience. Deadline for application is January 15, 2018.  Please contact Holly Maroon if you would like information on how to apply.

Tumor Board - Every Thursday, 8th Floor Classroom, 12:00-1:00pm. Different speakers and topics.  Lunch provided. 

PEDS Grand Rounds is broadcast from Morgantown every Wednesday 8-9 am. The first Wednesday is at the board room on the 8th floor of BMC.  Remaining sessions held at the ED conference room in ED of BMC.  If you are on a Pediatrics Week, please plan to attend. 

Volunteer Speaking Opportunity – Prostate Cancer Support Group is looking for students to speak on various prostate cancer topics for 15-20 minutes, with a potential Q&A session.  Meetings held 6:30-8:30pm on second Thursday of each month, 2nd floor of Dorothy McCormack Building.  Contact Dr. Paul Kradel, 304-267-2520, if interested.

MS3 Class of 2019

EXAM PREP – All students bring laptops to education day on Fri., Dec. 1st, for IT to review and clear prior to exams. 

EXAM SCHEDULE FALL 2017
Thur., Dec. 7th: Internal Med/PEDs
Tues., Dec. 12th: Surgery/OB-Gyn
Fri., Dec. 15th: Psych/Family Med

*End-of-Semester Lunch with Deans/Clerkship Directors immediately following exams on Dec. 15th, approx. 12pm in Mountaineer Room.  Please RSVP to alderm@wvumedicine.org if you are planning to attend. 

NAU MODULE: Dr. Johnson and Dr. Kletter strongly encourage you to review the Surgery clerkship on SOLE for directions/samples for writing admissions orders and brief op notes.  Remember that you need 3 graded H&P’s by the end of the semester. 

BOTH MODULES: Be sure you are logging your cases/procedures in E-value.  All case logs MUST be complete prior to final exams, as required by the curriculum.  If you have questions, contact Jane Horst or Michelle Alder at 304-596-6312. 

Friday Education – Schedule is posted in SOLE for the Fall semester.  This is a tentative schedule, subject to change based on speaker availability.  You will be notified via email of changes in schedule.  Spring schedule is in progress and will replace the current schedule when complete.
