MED ED DAY AT THE BALLPARK! Over 100 Med Ed friends will be going to the game, so get excited! If you have RSVP’d you’ll be able to pick up and pay for your tickets at the alumni office on the ground floor of HSC in G270 on August 1 or August 3 from 9-3. M1 Students will have the opportunity to pay and pick up during Orientation week on August 1st. Remember, the game is Sunday, August 5th and the pre-game tailgate with lots of great food, begins at 2pm. If you have any questions, contact Gina!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The Fall 2018 Student Health Insurance Waiver is available now. The deadline for completion is August 1. Questions? Student Insurance Office. 304-293-6815. EVERY STUDENT is automatically enrolled in the University Insurance plan and assessed in the Fall tuition UNLESS a waiver has been submitted by the deadline and approved.

MS4 Class of 2019
ERAS TRANSCRIPTS. In preparation for your ERAS application, you will need to have a specific ERAS transcript that can only be requested by Student Services. Complete the form and return to Christina Politte with a $12 money order attached. CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. The form and money order is due into Christina by August 15th.
GTR 2.0 is in full swing! Remember that you will need to send a copy of your updated CV and personal statement to your assigned Dean at least 7 days prior to your selected appointment. You will bring your GTR 1-on-1 Form (Found on the MS4 Information Page) to your appointment.
NUTRITION CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP Interested in applying for a scholarship to attend the Healthy Eating in Practice 2018 Conference, which is scheduled for August 26-29 in Asheville, North Carolina? Complete the application.
SAVE THE DATE! GTR 3, Interviewing Skills, will be offered in 2 sessions. You may choose to attend either October 10th or October 22nd. Watch for an email in the coming weeks for more information and to RSVP.
MS3 Class of 2020
SAVE THE DATE. Getting to Residency 0.5 will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 4:00pm in 1901. This is your first GTR with an introduction to the match process and course scheduling for Spring.
MS2 Class of 2021
PCD 2.0, MANDATORY. Monday, September 10 from 3:00-6:00pm in Fukushima Auditorium (1901). Discussion of M2 curriculum, upcoming high stakes exams, your folio, and more.
MS1 Class of 2022
ORIENTATION also known as Professional and Career Development Week will begin, tomorrow Wednesday, August 1st!!! Registration in the Pylons begins at 7:45 and the first session will start PROMPTLY at 8:00am! Remember to dress professionally (ties, blazers, etc) Be sure to bring your laptop AND your completed HSC Photo ID Form.
Thursday, August 2nd is Wellness Day at camp! You may want to out an extra pair of shoes/socks in your book bag given all the rain we have had lately.
LAPTOP PICKUP HAS BEGUN. You must email to arrange a date and time to pick up your laptop from the HSC Help Desk. Pick up times are from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm through July 31st in room 2356 on the 2nd floor of HSC. Bring a photo ID to claim your computer.
COMPLETE THE MSQ! Don’t forget to complete the 2018 Matriculating Student Questionnaire. Let’s be the first school in the country to get this done!

Volunteer/Community Service Opportunities
Volunteer Speaking Opportunity – Prostate Cancer Support Group is looking for students to speak on various prostate cancer topics for 15-20 minutes, with a potential Q&A session. Meetings held 6:30-8:30pm on second Thursday of each month, 2nd floor of Dorothy McCormack Building. Contact Dr. Paul Kradel, 304-267-2520, if interested.
Stepping Stones/Good Samaritan Free Clinic – Volunteers needed every Wednesday at 5pm and first Tuesday of each month at 5pm. New location: 601 S. Raleigh Street, Martinsburg. To volunteer or for additional information: Ayita Verna (agverna@mix.wvu.edu).
Fun Volunteer Opportunity – Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, 238 W. Washington Street, Charles Town. 3rd Saturday of each month, beginning at 10am. Volunteers will work with Dr. Maddie Humerick, Chef Scott, and others to assist the food pantry patrons to improve their nutrition status with monthly cooking demonstrations. BLS/ACLS Cards – Be sure to access the link sent to you from American Heart Association to claim your BLS/ACLS cards from the recent training class provided by BMC. The links do expire, so you MUST claim the cards and save them as soon as possible, as you will need them for the ERAS program next year.
