Mission and Goals
The Section of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine, offers the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment of adult patients across the region with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas. State of the art facilities support five Clinical Faculty, Board Certified in Gastroenterology, as well as two Advanced Nurse Practitioners specializing in Gastroenterology.
Additionally, two research faculty members comprise the Section. Over $3.5 million of NIH Funds support the study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. 4200 square feet of brand new, world class laboratory facilities is dedicated to the support of this goal.
In addition to exemplary patient care and world class research, The Section of Digestive Diseases is devoted to training gastroenterologists and physicians of the future. The recently established fellowship training program offers a first-class training opportunity to physicians wishing to pursue a career in Academic Gastroenterology.
