Nephrology Fellowship Program
Thank you for your interest in the nephrology fellowship program at West Virginia University. Our primary purpose is to train outstanding clinical nephrologists that after graduation are ready to tackle the challenges of nephrology. The WVU nephrology fellowship program is a versatile and robust clinical and academic training program that serves an extensive geographic area ranging from north central West Virginia to western Maryland and southwestern Pennsylvania. This 450 bed tertiary care referral center allows for exposure to a vast variety of pathology and the ability to deliver care at multiple levels ranging from the outreach settings to the inpatient level.
Our program supports 4 fellows in its ACGME accredited two-year fellowship. Our 2 year, structured curriculum has a strong focus on clinical nephrology as well as ample opportunity to participate in clinical research. We are proud of our 100% Nephrology Board pass rate. There are ample opportunities to participate in student and resident education, preparing you for a potential academic career.
Our 10 faculty members, all with strong clinical and educational backgrounds, provide supervision in all rotations. The size of our program allows for close mentoring relationships to develop with the faculty members. Our doors are always open to help with any type of problem. We have a strong and growing home dialysis and peritoneal dialysis program, along with multiple outreach kidney disease clinics providing health care to a substantial area of the state.
