A Message From The Chair

Welcome to the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology. We are a solid department with an active and diverse biomedical research program.

It is our role as educators to mold the lives and careers of future researchers in the field of Immunology & Microbial Pathogenesis. Our students are grounded with a strong foundation in basic concepts of microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and immunology and allowed flexibility in choosing advanced coursework in their specific areas of interest.

Our faculty research interests are diverse. Advancing knowledge that improves human health and the quality of life is the ultimate goal of each investigator. Faculty research interests include studies in molecular mechanisms of microbial pathogenesis and immunity, cell biology, and immunology. The department offers many opportunities to conduct groundbreaking research in these fields in a collaborative, stimulating environment.

It is my hope that you will explore our web pages and develop a greater understanding of the excellent research and teaching efforts that are detailed in our individual faculty web pages.

The success of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology is built on the dedication and commitment of our faculty and staff. It is our commitment to provide excellence in education, research, and service to the students of West Virginia University.
