Objectives

To provide an experience with the total management of the surgical patient, including preoperative and postoperative management, the methods of surgical intervention available, provide exposure to the multidisciplinary approach to general surgical patients, and to understand surgical and non-surgical treatment options.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Delivery of patient care in both the in-patient and out-patient setting by serving as a first assistant of the Surgery Attending.

Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

Clinical evaluation by attending, attendance and participation in all assigned patient care activities and completion of assigned readings.
