Adolescent Psychiatry

Objectives

  1. Psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis & treatment of adolescents.
  2. Fundamentals of child and adolescent treatments (medications, individual, group, milieu).
  3. Specific evaluation and treatment of juvenile sexual offenders.
  4. Specific evaluation and treatment of addiction in adolescence.
  5. Specific evaluation and treatment of ADHD in children and adolescence.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Mentored experiences.

  1. Inpatient with attending on CRH residential treatment center.
  2. Outpatient with attending in child/adolescent medication clinic.
  3. Assist with evaluation of new patients in outpatient department.
  4. Assignment of two individual patients (inpatient) for supervised management.
  5. Individual supervision one hour/week with attending.
  6. Participation in group and milieu therapies.
  7. Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team (RTC).

Examination Procedures and Evaluation Criteria

Daily observation, oral testing, written report on patient, attendance and participation 5 days/week. ( 8 AM - 4:30 PM).
