The Department of Neurology at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University represents the major neurological referral center in West Virginia. The Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Training Program is a combined EMG/EEG fellowship. Because of the wide referral base, fellows will receive a broad exposure to a variety of neuromuscular and epilepsy disorders and be directly involved in their testing. The Epilepsy Center at WVU includes hardwired video-EEG monitoring units for both adults and pediatrics. Clinical training includes participation in an active MDA clinic and epilepsy clinic. Fellows are actively involved in Epilepsy Conference and Neuromuscular Conference. Clinical research involvement and presentation at national meetings is encouraged. There is significant one-on-one training with faculty. The fellowship is usually a near 50 – 50 split between the 2 areas of training, but accommodations have been made for those fellows with special interests.
Applicants must have completed an accredited neurology training program and have an unrestricted US license. Fellows who complete the program will be eligible to sit for the Clinical Neurophysiology Boards (ABPN) and the EMG boards (ABEM). Our fellows have gone on to both private practice and academic positions.
For more details of the Neurology Department in general, please refer to the Letter from the Chair on the website. Morgantown, WV is a safe, wonderful town to live in and WVU is a great place to work and train.
