WVU OT Faculty Earns Addition Credential in Psychiatric Rehabilitation
The WVU Division of Occupational Therapy congratulates Dr. Kayleigh Nolan, PhD, MOT, OTR/L, SCLV, PMH-C, CPRP, on earning the credential of Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP).
According to the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, CPRPs incorporate the most successful and cost-effective practices for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and have mastered the principles, skills, and knowledge necessary to carry out those practices. These practitioners share a commitment to the fundamental principle that recovery from serious mental illness is possible. The domains of psychiatric rehabilitation align with the nature of occupational therapy practice and include interpersonal skills, client assessment, planning, outcomes, community integration, professional role competencies, and supporting health and wellness.
This certification builds upon her prior expertise in the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International (PSI). Dr. Nolan is the only OTP with this credential in the state. This certification recognizes perinatal mental health specialists who have met education, practice, and mental health training requirements and passed a standardized certification exam. Perinatal mental health specialists have training and expertise in perinatal mental health disorders, screening, assessment, treatment management, and evidence-based interventions to address the spectrum of maternal and family health concerns across the perinatal period.
