Crocco to direct health partnerships and business ventures

Todd J. Crocco, M.D., has been named director of health partnerships and business ventures for the WVU Health Sciences Center.

“Dr. Crocco has displayed an enormous talent for innovation and entrepreneurship that has greatly expanded the reach of WVU’s emergency medicine faculty across the state,” said Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean at the HSC. “We have asked him to put this expertise to work across the entire HSC. WVU has many opportunities to partner with health providers and other businesses and organizations in West Virginia and elsewhere, and it will be his responsibility in this new role to evaluate these opportunities and help us develop the ones that most rapidly advance the health of the state and the financial success of our five schools.”

Dr. Crocco previously served as chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the WVU School of Medicine. In that role, he established partnerships with United Hospital Center in Clarksburg and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon to place WVU physicians in the hospitals’ emergency departments. In both locations, the partnerships were successful in improving the quality of emergency care offered to patients.

In Morgantown, he led the effort to establish WVU Urgent Care, now providing services in two locations, and partnered with University leaders to build and operate a new student health center.

Most recently he served as the leader of the Institute for Patient Experience for WVU Medicine.
