Research

The fellow is expected to complete one publishable research project over the course of the fellowship. For those fellows who are so inclined, research opportunities abound. Our faculty are currently involved in numerous ongoing clinical and basic science projects.

The WVU Orthopaedic Research Laboratory has state of the art facilities devoted to soft and hard tissue mechanics, tissue engineering, nanotechnology, microsurgery, and translational research. This includes a dedicated cell culture lab, histology lab, molecular biology lab, nanotechnology lab, microsurgery lab, instrumentation and fixturing lab, microsurgical and large animal surgical suite, image analysis center, and mechanical testing facilities.

In addition, the lab features a cadaveric teaching facility and arthroscopy wet lab, which the fellow is encouraged to utilize to further his or her understanding of spinal anatomy and surgical techniques.
