Eric Bailey, MD, PhD - Earned his BA Degree in Psychology from East Texas Baptist University and then his PhD in Cell Biology at the University of Texas Medical Brance Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.  He then went on to earn his MD Degree at East Tennessee State University.  Dr. Bailey is currently an Assistant Professor at West Virginia University, Department of Otolaryngology

Kristin Honsinger, MD - Earned a BS Degree in Biochemisty and Cell Biology from University of California San Diego, and then her MD Degree from Chicago Medical School.  Following residency, Dr. Honsinger completed a Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital at Ohio State University and is now practicing in Texas

Herman Lam, MD - Earned a BS Degree in Human Biology, Health and Society from Cornell University and then his MD Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.  Following residency, Dr. Lam completed a Facial Plastic Fellowship at Mittleman Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles, CA. and is now practicing at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY

Jordan Cain, MD - Earned his undergraduate BS degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and then received his MD Degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society.  After residency he went on to complete a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mangat, Holzapfel, & Lied Plastic Surgery in Cincinnati, OH.  He is currently practicing at Texas Facial Aesthetics in Frisco, TX 

Brian Kellermeyer, MD - Earned his undergraduate BS degree in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University.  Following residency he began practice at West Virginia University Department of Otolaryngology, where he is now an Assistant Professor and Assistant Program Director

Chadi Makary, MD - Earned his both his undergraduate BS degree in Biology and his MD degree from the American University of Beirut and was a member of AOA.  Following residency he began practicing at West Virginia University Medicine Eastern Division in Ranson, WV.

Joseph B. Touma, MD - Earned his BA Degree in Political Science from Duke University and then his MD Degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine.  Following residency Dr. Touma completed a fellowship in Neurotology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  Dr. Touma currently practices with his father at the Touma Hearning Centers in Huntington, WV and Ashland, KY.

Huma Quraishi, MD - Earned her MD Degree at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.  Following residency, Dr. Quraishi completed a Pediatric ENT Fellowship at Children's National Medical Center, in Washington, DC.   Dr. Quraishi is currently the Director of the Pediatric Division at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital, which is part of the Hackensack UMC group, in Hackensack, NJ 

Benjamin McGrew, MD - Earned his MD Degree at the University of Arkansas with honors.  Following residency, Dr. McGrew completed an Otology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University.  Dr. McGrew is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama, School of Medicine.

Class of 1997

Robert Owens, MD - Earned his MD Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch.  After completing his residency, he went on to complete a competitive two-year fellowship at the prestigious House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles.  He then joined his father, Dr. Fred Owens who was also a WVU Alumni, in practice at the Owens Ear Center in Plano, TX, with his father Dr. Fred Owen.  Unfortunately, Dr. Fred Owens passed away in November, 2016 and will be sadly missed by the WVU Community.

Brett Chafin, MD - Earned his BS Degree from Wake Forest University and then his MD Degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine.  Following residency Dr. Chafin completed a Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh  Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Chafin is currently practicing at the Nemours Children's Specialty Care in Jacksonville, FL

Richard Lough, MD - Received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He then graduated with honors from West Virginia University School of Medicine, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Honor Society.  Dr. Lough currently lives and practices in Charleston, WV at EN&T Associates of Charleston, Inc., with another WVU Alumni Dr. Todd Nichols.

J. David Garnett, MD  - Earned his BA Degree in Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia and then his MD Degree at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine.  Dr. Garnett then completed a residency in Pathology at Fairfax Hospital before coming to WVU for his Otolaryngology Residency.  Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Laryngology and Professional Voice at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, TN.   Following completion of his training, Dr. Garnett was in private practice in West Palm Beach, Florida, and then was recruited back to WVU to establish a Voice and Swallowing Center.  The WVU Center was very active in both cancer management and was a pioneer in the use of Transnasal Esophagoscopy.  After five years at WVU, Dr. Garnett left WVU to begin a Voice and Swallowing Center at the University of Kansas, where he remains.  Dr. Garnett is currently an Associate Professor there, and also serves as the Director of their Voice and Swallowing Center.

Gregory Allen, MD - Earned his BA Degree in Chemistry at the University of Arkansas, where hi was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Suma Cum Laude.  He then earned his MD Degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Following residency, Dr. Allen completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Allen is currently the Medical Director, Cleft Lip and Palate Team at the Children's Hospital of Colorado, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado.

Collie Shaw, MD - Earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Arkansas, where he graduated with highest honors.  He then studied at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he earned his MD Degree.  Following his residency training, Dr. Shaw returned to Conway, AR to open the Central Arkansas Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic, where he has practiced since then.

Rohit Bawa, MD - Earned his BS Degree in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, in Cincinnati, OH, where he was an Honors Graduate and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  Dr. Bawa then went on to earn his MD Degree from the same university, where he was a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha society.  Currently, Dr. Bawa is in private practice in Richmond, Indiana, and has 5 additional satellite offices in Connersville, Rushville, New Castle, and Winchester, as well as one in Greenville, Ohio. 

Neal Obermyer, MD - Earned his MD Degree from the Medical College of Ohio.  Following his residency training, Dr. Obermyer joined Southeastern Ohio Otolaryngology, where he remained until 2000.  He currently is in private practice with Port Huron ENT, in Port Huron, MI.

Michael Hurst, MD, DDS - Earned his DDS Degree from West Virginia University School of Dentistry and then his MD Degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV.  Following completion of his residency, Dr. Hurst joined the faculty at West Virginia University Department of Otolaryngology, where he remains today.  Currently he is an Associate Professor and the Medical Director for Perioperative Services at West Virginia University Hospitals.

John Pickens, MD - Earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, and then his MD Degree from East Tennessee State University.  Following completion of his Otolaryngology Residency, Dr. Pickens completed a mini-fellowship in endoscopic sinus surgery and facial plastic surgery with world-renowned surgeon Dr. Mark May, in Pittsbrugh, PA.  He then went on to do an additional year of residency in Plastic and REconstructive Surgery at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Missouri.  In 1998 Dr. Pickens established Mountain Regional Ear, Nose and Throat, PA-Facial Plastic Surgery in Asheville, NC, where he continues to practice.

Janet Griffin, MD - Earned her BA in Biology from West Virginia University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and then her MD Degree from West Virginia University, School of Medicine.  She then completed a General Surgery Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV, before coming to West Virginia University to complete her Otolaryngology Residency.  She currently practices with Summit ENT in Akron, OH and is affiliated with Akron General Medical Center, Children's Hospital Medical Center, and Summa Akron City Hospital.

John Yun, MD - Earned his BA Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, with honors, and then a graduate degree from University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The then went on to earn his MD degree for the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before coming to WVU to complete a residency in Otolaryngology.  He currently practices at Wolf & Yun, PSC, in Elizabethtown, KY.
