Adolescent Medicine

Aim

To serve West Virginia and surrounding areas by providing Adolescent Medicine Services, and to act as a resource agency for health and youth care professionals.

  • Adolescents and young adults (up to 25 years of age) seeking general, specialty and reproductive health services.
  • Children of any age seeking pediatric and adolescent gynecological services.
  • Anyone seeking information with regard to Adolescent Gender Affirming Care.
  • Anyone seeking information with regard to Adolescent Medicine.

Services:

  • Well child care of adolescents and young adults, including those with chronic medical problems.
  • Reproductive health care, including birth control and sexually transmitted infections for young women and men.
  • Evaluation and treatment of menstrual problems, including cramps, PMS, and irrugular periods..
  • Evaluation and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic syndrome.
  • Evaluation and treatment of excess menstrual bleeding.
  • Evaluation and treatment of eating disorders and obesity.
  • Evaluation and treatment of psychosomatic and other chronic symptoms, for example - headache, abdominal pain, pelvic pain, or fatigue.
  • Evaluation and treatment of acne, and other adolescent skin problems.
  • Evaluation and treatment of medical and menstrual problems in indivuals with autism and other developmental disorders.
  • Medical management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adolescents and young adults.
  • Evaluation and medical management of uncomplicated anxiety and depression.
  • Evaluation and treatment of sports related injuries, and other problems.
