WVU Grant Writing Workshop

The WVU Office of Research provides faculty the opportunity to enroll in a 4-month program designed to provide one-on-one grant writing mentorship with a professional grant writer. Principal Investigators must be nominated by their Research Associated Dean/Dean for this program. A maximum of 30 applicants will be selected to participate in each workshop. Grant Writing Mentoring Program

21 Principal Investigators are chosen each cycle to participate in a mentoring program whereby the individual Principal Investigator is assigned a personal mentor to develop and submit an external research grant proposal. Faculty request a mentor through the Office of the Associate Vice President for Research and complete a mentor request form from the following website: http://researchoffice.wvu.edu/funding/assistance.

Biostatistics Core Services

Department of Biostatistics

The WVU Health Sciences Center is currently developing a School of Public Health (SPH). Within the SPH will be a Department of Biostatistics. Along with this department is a Biostatistics Consulting Group, which provides general consulting to researchers who need additional biostatistics support.

Pediatric Biostatistical Support

The Department of Pediatrics provides additional funding dedicated to support pediatric researchers. Any faculty or students in need of biostatistical assistance should submit a request to the website: http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/bcg. Michael Regier and Lili Dong (biosketches available at: www.hsc.wvu.edu/bcg/People) will be the contact persons for all pediatric requests. This service is of a limited nature; the amount of service available will depend on the number and nature of current requests.

WVU SYPHeR

Supporting Youth and Pediatric Health Research

 


Mission:
Provide technical and administrative support to clinical and translational researchers working to improve child and adolescent health.

Description:
SYPHeR provides administrative, recruitment, compliance, evaluation, and dissemination support to researchers interested in child, adolescent, and family health.  Specific services might include IRB development, training and oversight for the participant recruitment process, development of regulatory materials, impact and process evaluation, and manuscript development assistance. 

Goals:
Promote one-source access point to trained research staff offering support in study planning, data collection, and evaluation.

Provide administrative support, targeting small-scale research and pilot studies having the potential for future large-scale studies and/or high rewards to the pediatric population.

Assist researchers with dissemination of research findings in a timely fashion at all levels of communication through report and manuscript development assistance.
