COURSE DESCRIPTION

This Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) is being sponsored by the CAMC and the PTA program at Mountwest Community and Technical College.  The CCIP is a voluntary program designed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants interested in or involved with clinical education. The course involves 12 hours of interactive classroom experience and a 3 hour Assessment Center.

The program addresses issues of the relationship between the academic program, site, and students; planning and preparing for students during their clinical education experiences; developing learning experiences and supporting ongoing learning through questioning and effective feedback; identifying legal, regulatory and ADA implications for clinical educators; and identifying and managing exceptional students and students with problems in clinical education.

The Assessment Center provides each PT/PTA participant with the opportunity to apply information learned during the program to six simulated situations.  Successful completion of all stations in the Assessment Center results in the awarding of APTA’s CI Credential and 1.5 CEU’s.

Note: Participants must attend all sessions, including the Assessment Center, on both days to receive CEUs and the APTA CI credential.
