Service to the State
The Division of Physical Therapy is dedicated to serving the citizens of West Virginia. The Division provides service to the state in numerous ways:
- Largest provider of physical therapy education in the state (31 graduates in 2010). Class size expansion from 32 to 40 students/year starting with the Class of 2013.
- Active participant in WV Rural Health Education.
- Provider of high quality evidence-based continuing medical education to WV physical therapists.
- Many faculty serve in leadership positions within the WV Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Provide direct patient care to the citizens of North Central West Virginia. WVU Physical Therapy faculty provided over 1,150 patient visits in 2008 and 2009 through University Health Services.
- Participate in public health initiatives that seek to improve the health and wellness of WV citizens.
- Serve as speakers and educators at local and state medical meeting and civic organizations.
