Employees encouraged to prepare for Joint Commission visit
The Joint Commission will conduct a full survey for WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals, including a behavioral health survey, sometime between now and July 2021.
Any and all staff members may be asked questions by a surveyor, so employees should maintain a goal of “continuous compliance,” while performing their duties, according to Aaron Kocsis, RN, regulatory coordinator with the WVU Medicine Center for Quality Outcomes.
In preparation for this visit, employees of WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals should review the Joint Commission checklist on the Joint Commission intranet site (click on “Joint Commission Information” near the top of the page).
That link also has common survey questions and other resources.
The last full survey was conducted in 2018, and WVU Medicine-WVU Hospitals received accreditation for all services.
Also, the Joint Commission visit for Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program certification will occur between June 11 and Sept. 9. WVU Medicine will receive seven days notice, and the survey will last for a day and a half. One reviewer will visit.
Employees with questions about the full Joint Commission survey can reach out Aaron Kocsis. For questions related to VAD certification, contact Stephanie Kish.
