Mindfulness programs scheduled to return this fall

Mindfulness is the ability to focus and stabilize one’s attention in the present moment. The results of mindfulness practice can improve sleep, lessen reactivity, and positively change our relationship to stress.

Listed below are three opportunities to enhance personal relaxation response, mental fitness, and mindful resilience this fall through the WVU Mindfulness Program

Weekly Meditations: The WVU Health Sciences and WVU Medicine Wellness Center will host 20-minute meditation sessions three days a week starting Sept. 12 - Oct. 21. Meditations will take place at WVU Health Sciences Wellness Studio (room G-278) every Monday and Friday at 2:30 p.m., and Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Monthly Fresh Start Workshop: Whether you are a seasoned meditator or learning for the first time, this experiential 30-minute workshop will help you meet the demands of life with more intention, focus, and calm. A relaxing sequence of mindfulness techniques will be explored, such as gentle movement, breath awareness, and guided meditation. Come for a fresh start, and by the end feel restored, centered, and energized.

The workshop is scheduled to take place at the WVU Health Sciences Wellness Studio (room G-278) from 12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m. Space is limited to 20 registrations.

Seasonal Mindful Steps Series: And finally, if you're looking to advance your mindfulness practice, a six-week Mindful Steps series will take place every Thursday Sept. 29 - Nov. 3 via Zoom from noon to 1 p.m.

The series focuses on different themes each week from mindful eating and mindful communication to yoga and the science of mindfulness research, all designed to create better mind-body connectivity and understanding that can positively influence your relationship to stress.
