New providers join WVU Medicine

The following providers joined WVU Medicine in October:

Morgantown

ANESTHESIOLOGY

Edward Nemergut, MD, is chair of the WVU Department of Anesthesiology at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dr. Nemergut joins WVU from the University of Virginia where he served as the Frederic A. Berry Professor of Anesthesiology and a professor of neurosurgery, as well as a vice chair in the Department of Anesthesiology. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University, and he completed a residency at University of Virginia.

Randi Davis, AGNP, joins the WVU Medicine Center for Integrative Pain Management. She was previously a nurse practitioner at Genesis Healthcare and a nurse at WVU Medicine. She graduated from Maryville University with her Master of Science in Nursing degree.

BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE AND PSYCHIATRY

Lauren Hennessey, PA-C, joins the WVU Medicine Healthy Minds clinic at the WVU Health Education Building. She was previously on the hospitalist service at Uniontown Hospital.

Ashley Price, FNP-BC, joins the WVU Medicine Healthy Minds clinic at the WVU Health Education Building.

EMERGENCY MEDICINE

Carol Wright Becker, MD, is a former emergency medicine attending physician at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming and at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She joins the Department of Emergency Medicine at Ruby.

GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY

Jennifer Veverka, MD, is a digestive diseases specialist joining WVU Medicine as director of the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) program. She was a faculty physician at Allegheny Health Network’s Allegheny Center for Digestive Health. She completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital and an internal medicine residency at UPMC.

Tracy Daum, ACAGNP, joins the digestive diseases division. She was previously with Allegheny General Hospital.

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

David Schwartzman, MD, is an electrophysiologist who will provide care at Ruby, United Hospital Center, and Uniontown Hospital. He comes to WVU from Mercy Health Heart and Vascular Institute in Steubenville, Ohio. He was section chief of electrophysiology at WVU Heart and Vascular Institute from 2019 to 2021.

Channing Ash, NP, joins the wound care service. Previously, she was a congestive heart failure nurse practitioner at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center and a charge nurse at WVU Medicine.

Noah Teaff, PA-C, joins the critical care service. He graduated from West Liberty University.

OPHTHALMOLOGY

Jordan Gjolberg, OD, joins the WVU Eye Institute. She was formerly an associate optometrist at Texas Family Eyecare in Leander, Texas. She earned her optometry degree at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas.

SURGERY

Stanley Timinski, FNP, joins the WVU Critical Care and Trauma Institute. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing degree from Drexel University. He was a registered nurse at WVU Medicine since 2015.

Parkersburg

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE

Andrew Traynham, PA-C, is a physician assistant in cardiothoracic surgery at Camden Clark Medical Center. He graduated from Marietta College.

Uniontown

ANESTHESIOLOGY

Jafri Syed, MD, joins Uniontown Hospital as a pain management physician in the Department of Anesthesiology. He was formerly at UPMC. He completed a pain medicine fellowship at West Penn Hospital and an anesthesiology residency at Allegheny General Hospital.

HOSPITAL MEDICINE

Toni Myers, FNP, joins the nocturnist service at Uniontown Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse. She graduated from Chamberlain University.

PULMONARY CRITICAL CARE AND SLEEP MEDICINE

Peter Kochupura, MD, joins Uniontown Hospital as medical director of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He was formerly at UPMC. He completed sleep medicine and pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowships at UPMC.
