WVU in the News: Statewide increase in higher education funding welcomed by WVU officials
WVU officials are very grateful for increased funding from the state legislature and are looking forward to the challenges it will help them address. The budget, signed March 12 by Gov. Patrick Morrisey, increases the university’s base appropriation, rewards performance under the state’s higher education funding formula, and provides adjustments for pay raises and rising costs for the Public Employees Insurance Agency. It also reversed a previously planned 2% cut to higher education.
Additionally, the Legislature approved a $32 million one-time appropriation for the WVU School of Medicine, which trains the largest number of residents and fellows in the state.
