WVU School of Medicine students offer a “pick-me-up” for Morgantown healthcare workers

In a student-initiated, independent project, West Virginia University medical students in the Gold Humanism Honor Society are doing their part to support local healthcare workers by offering grocery and supply pickup.

According to third-year medical student Kristen Mastrantoni, the project was started by students who were looking for a creative way to support their community in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. Recognizing that healthcare workers may be excessively burdened, the idea to alleviate that by running small errands was a natural fit.

She added that her peers wanted to say thank you to healthcare workers, hospital staff, environmental service workers and food service workers who are making extraordinary sacrifices at this time.
