The COE offers support by answering individual requests. Together we are united in our goal of serving West Virginia's SUD population through best practice. The only cost is your time, and we will work hard to make it efficient.

    • Prescriber role/case consults on typical or moderate complexity patients; Individual and Group psychotherapy topics and techniques; Psychotherapy documentation; Developing an MOUD treatment plan

    • Utilization of advanced practice professionals in MOUD (scope of practice, professional standards, regulation)
  • Administration
    • Coding, billing; state/federal policy; systems process & outcomes QI; technology; program development

FAQ

What things are necessary for my MAT clinic and provider to be an approved treatment site?

For a provider: A DATA 2000 Waiver must be obtained to prescribe and then they also need to register with MOLINA. 

For the clinic: Develop policies and procedures and register with OHFLAC.

Are there any privacy laws that are unique to patients with SUD (Substance Use Disorder)?

When doing a group-based model what is the maximum number of patients allowed?

Due to insurance guidelines with Medicare, the maximum number is 12.  This number can be lower based on clinical decisions or space.

Is there a telehealth option for group during the COVID 19 pandemic?

Yes, many clinics have successfully utilized conferencing software to meet with patients remotely. This process involves a specific set of guidelines and rules related to privacy. The platform of the conferencing software MUST be secure. 

Who comprises the treatment team of a COAT Clinic?

The main members of a COAT treatment team can be comprised of a prescriber, therapist, and a case manager. The roles can vary depending on the clinic’s needs.
