ABSTRACT GUIDELINES
General Information
- Please email the fillable PDF to bakirby@hsc.wvu.edu by April 11, 2019.
- Be sure to name the pdf file with the primary author’s last name and department.
- Do not submit tables, figures, or images with abstracts. These can be presented with either an oral or a poster presentation.
- Do not provide references with abstracts. These can be presented with an oral or a poster presentation. Suggested Format
- We recommend that you consider structuring your abstract with the following sections:
- Introduction: Why did you start?
- Local Problem
- Intended Improvement: What was your Clinical Aim?
- Methods: What did you do?
- Setting: What was the clinical setting and patient group?
- Planning the study of the intervention
- Indicate the main factors that contributed to choice of the specific intervention.
- Outlines initial plans for how the intervention was implemented.
- Process Map or Key Driver Diagram
- PDSA Cycle
- Results: What did you find?
- Graphs of measurement over time (e.g. run charts, bar graph)
- Discussion: What do the findings mean?
- Summarizes the most important successes and difficulties in implementing intervention components, and main changes observed in care delivery and clinical outcomes.
- Explore possible reasons for differences between observed and expected outcomes.
