Annual CBLs assigned on April 1; due October 31

Annual CBLs for 2017 were assigned April 1 and are due October 31. Below is a document with a list of WVUH/UHA CBLs that all SOM faculty are required to complete, or may be required to complete based on individual positions and activities. Please note, individuals may be required to complete more than what is listed based on his or her role.

This list includes the reason the CBL exists, the initial date available, the due date, and whether an individual can test out of this individual CBL by passing the Pre-Assessment. Also included below are the instructions on how to access the NetLearning platform, from both on and off campus, in order to complete the modules.  This will be an ongoing process of improvement, and below are some of the changes that have been made so far for 2017:

WVUH/UHA

  • A number of CBLs have been shortened and are continually under review for clarity and brevity.
  • A Pre-Assessment test for five of the annual modules has been created. For each section of the Pre-Assessment that is passed with a score of 100%, that module will be marked as complete. If users do not pass the section with 100%, they will still need to complete the full module as normal. Please note that users have only have one attempt at the Pre-Assessment.     
  • The hospital-based CBLs will be functioning on a Cloud version of the NetLearning platform, which will allow easier access from home, use of Apple operating systems, and compatibility with most browsers. 
  • NetLearning is now mobile-friendly. 

WVU

  • Required Research CBLs have been reduced significantly, with 18 modules changed to optional. For a full list, see below “Research CBL Updates.”
  • The frequency of three Environmental Health and Safety modules has changed from annual to initial hire, or upon change or deficiency, including the following:
    • Hazardous Waste (RCRA)
    • Hazard Communication
    • Laboratory Safety
  • The HSC IT module number of training slides has been reduced from 24 to 14. 

New CBLs being assigned mid-year are actively being minimized, unless an urgent or important issue arises. As a reminder, any new hire will have their CBLs due within 30 days.

NetLearning Access Instructions
NetLearning can now be accessed from a PC, MAC or mobile device.

Access NetLearning On Campus:

  1. Go to CONNECT.
  2. Click on the Applications Page.
  3. Click on NetLearning if you have WVUH Credentials.  Click on NetLearning (Health Science) if you have HS Credentials.
  4. Your Credentials are the same as your domain log in, or what you use for EPIC. 
  5. If you don’t know your Credentials click “Click here if your login failed” below the Login Button and it will re-direct you to enter your WVU Medical Corp (UHA) Employee ID or Badge Number.

Access NetLearning Off Campus:

  1. Enter the following URL in your browser’s address bar: https://lms.netlearning.com/mynetlearning/wvumedicine
  2. Faculty: Enter your WVU Medical Corp (UHA) Employee ID.  This is a nine digit number beginning with 910.
  3. APPs and other Mid-Level Providers: Enter your Badge Number.  This is a six digit number on the back of your badge.

 

Research CBL Updates

  1. Conflict of Interest – Only two modules are required – three are optional.
  2. Animal Care and Use – Researchers only need to complete the training modules in the specific areas that apply to their activities. For example: “Biomedical Research Investigators”, “Social & Behavioral Research Investigators”. Investigators do not need to complete all modules.
  3. Human Subjects Research – 18 modules moved to ‘Optional’
    1. Recognizing and Reporting Unanticipated Problems Involving Risks to Subjects or Others in Biomedical Research;
    2. History and Ethics of Human Subjects Research;
