School of Medicine alumnus, Jerry Dorsch, remembered

It is with great sadness that we pass on the death announcement of Jerry Dorsch on October 1, 2016. Jerry was a member of the class of 1967 and wife, Susan, the class of 1968. Obituary as listed from Jacksonville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home listed below:

Jerry Allen Dorsch
June 24, 1941 – October 1, 2016

Resided in Orange Park, FL

Jerry was born and grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia. He attended Washington and Jefferson College, then West Virginia University School of Medicine. He interned at Wheeling Hospital, followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh. Following two years in the Navy at NAS Jacksonville, he went into private practice in Jacksonville at St. Vincent's and then worked at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, for over 20 years. He and his wife co-authored 6 anesthesia textbooks and traveled extensively, giving lectures on anesthesia equipment and working on US and international medical equipment standards. Following retirement from medicine he became a Master Gardener and ran a U-Pick farm on Thunder Road in Middleburg.

He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Alycia Tillman, son David Dorsch, and four grandchildren.

The family will received friends from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073. Funeral services commenced at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Diller officiating.
