General Surgery Subinternship

LOCATION: Ruby Memorial Hospital of the WVU Hospitals, Inc., Morgantown, West Virginia

STATUS: This rotation fulfills the senior year requirement for an Inpatient Subinternship

Objectives

To provide an experience with the total management of the surgical/cancer patient, including preoperative and postoperative management, the methods of surgical interventional available, provide exposure to the multidisciplinary approach to care of cancer, and general surgical patients, and to understand surgical and non-surgical treatment options.

Methods to Achieve Objectives

Delivery of patient care in both the in-patient and out-patient setting by serving as a subintern of the Surgery Service. Ward responsibilities will be shared with the resident staff and supervised by the faculty. Attendance to MultiDisciplinary Tumor Board Conference.
