BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE AND PSYCHIATRY
Joel Vogt, MD joins the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry. He was formerly an assistant professor of psychiatry at WVU, as well as Chief of Psychiatry and of Community Mental Health & Recovery at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He has held leadership positions in psychiatry at Moses Cone in Greensboro, NC; Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA; and at Fairmont General Hospital.

COMMUNITY PRACTICE

Alan Casciola, DO joins the Department of Community Practice at the new Waynesburg clinic. He was formerly with Waynesburg Legacy Medical.  He earned his degree at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine.

EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Brian Dilcher, MD joins the faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine having completed his emergency medicine residency here at WVU.

Anthony Steratore, MD joins the faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine having completed his emergency medicine residency here at WVU.

FAMILY MEDICINE
James Mersing, MD joins the Department of Family Medicine. His previous practice was with Wedgewood Family Practice in Morgantown. He completed family medicine residency and earned his MD at WVU.

HEART AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE
Alper Toker, MD joins the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery as Director of Tracheal Reconstruction in the Heart and Vascular Institute.  He led the chest surgery program at the Istanbul University Medical School’s Department of General Thoracic Surgery and was the director of the Chest Surgery Program at the Group Florence Nightingale Hospitals in Istanbul.

Brijesh Patel, DO joins the Heart and Vascular Institute providing non-invasive cardiology services at Garrett Memorial Hospital. He was a non-invasive cardiologist at Michigan Heart & Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital, in Jackson, MI and a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.   

MEDICINE
Jamie Latos, DO joins the Department of Medicine. He completed rheumatology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina and internal medicine residency here at WVU.

Nour Daboul, MD joins the Department of Medicine and WVU Cancer Institute. She completed hematology/oncology fellowship at Allegheny Health Network and specializes in genitourinary oncology.

Sowmini Medavaram, MD joins the Department of Medicine and WVU Cancer Institute, and will practice at Berkeley Medical Center. She completed hematology/oncology fellowship at Stony Brook University Hospital.

Samuel Merrill, MD, PhD joins the Department of Medicine and WVU Cancer Institute. He is a former attending hematologist at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research focus is on severe anemias.

NEUROLOGY
Melanie Ward, MD joins the Department of Neurology’s neuroimmunology service. She was formerly a Neurologist at Charleston Area Medical Center. She completed neuroimmunology fellowship and neurology residency at the University of Virginia.  

OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
Kayla Pomp-Steurer, CNM joins the midwifery section in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She will practice at the Fairmont Gateway Clinic and at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was an RN at Ruby prior to earning her CNM degree.

Laura Merrill, MD joins the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She practiced at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland and at Johns Hopkins University.  

PATHOLOGY
Aarti Gosawmi, MD joins the Department of Pathology. She completed cytopathology fellowship at the University of Minnesota

RADIOLOGY
Parissa Feizi, MD joins the Department of Radiology. She completed neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Maryland and radiology residency at WVU.

SURGERY
Amanda Palmer, MD joins the trauma, acute care surgery and surgical critical care division in the Department of Surgery. She completed surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Kentucky and general surgery residency at WVU.

Dan Parrish, MD joins the Department of Surgery’s pediatric surgery division. He completed pediatric surgery fellowship at the University of Mississippi.
