Celebrate American Pharmacists Month with WVU student pharmacists
Each October, American Pharmacists Month, led by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), more than 700,000 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists. To raise public awareness of the essential role pharmacists play in improving public health and patient care, the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and its American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter have planned a month of activities aimed at sharing valuable health information and advocating for the profession.
2026 WVU APhA-ASP American Pharmacists Month Events
Oct. 2: Kickoff event, cake and photo opportunity in the WVU HSC Pylons from noon to 1 p.m.
Oct. 7: Global Health Week, alumna Maegan Casimir (PharmD ’26) will speak about her South Africa rotation in Room 1905 at noon.
Oct. 8: National Student Pharmacists Day
- Picture in the Pylons, student pharmacists to wear white coats
Oct. 12: National Women Pharmacist Day
- Picture in the Pylons in conjunction with Lambda Kappa Sigma
Oct. 12-16: Pharmacy class steps competition
Oct. 14: WVU Mountaineer and flu vaccine event at the Cook-Hayman Pharmacy Museum.
2 to 3 p.m.
Oct. 16: Thomas Menighan (BS Pharm ’74; ScD ’11), MBA, FAPhA, FFIP, American Pharmacists Association CEO emeritus and WVU School of Pharmacy assistant dean for community engagement, will give a Dean’s Hour presentation, “The Power of WE!” in Okey Patteson Auditorium from noon to 1 p.m.
Oct. 16: Homecoming parade watch at the Iron Horse Tavern, 140 High St., beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Oct. 17: Homecoming tailgate for the WVU vs. Cincinnati football game. 10 a.m. to noon. Tent location adjacent to Mylan Puskar Stadium (watch social media for the exact tent location).
Oct. 19-23: Pharmacy Spirit Week
- Oct. 19: Wear your favorite scrubs (or work uniform/white coat) day!
- Oct. 20: WVU gear day
- Oct. 21: Class colors day!

- Faculty/staff = gold
- Oct. 22: Twin day
- Oct. 23: Wear It Pink Day for breast cancer awareness
Oct. 24: American Pharmacists Month social at Escobar’s, 471 Chestnut St., from 5 to 8 p.m. This is a schoolwide social. The entry fee is $10 for students and guests and $15 for faculty and staff.
Oct. 26: WVU Track or Treat with PPA from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the WVU track beside the Coliseum.
Oct. 29: Senior Monongalians health screenings (free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings), 5000 Green Bag Road, Morgantown, WV 26501, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
