The WVU Country Roads Program is seeking six dynamic and student-centered Course Instructors to teach specialized classes for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) preparing for independent living, employment, and community engagement. If you are passionate about inclusive education and helping young adults thrive, we’d love to hear from you!

We are hiring instructors for the following courses (applicants may apply for one or more):

  • Relationships

Covers friendships, healthy boundaries, dating, and intimate relationships.

  • Communication in Emergencies

Teaches students how to recognize emergencies, communicate essential information, and respond appropriately.

  • Medical Management

Supports skills such as appointment navigation, communicating with providers, medication basics, and self-advocacy.

  • Self-Awareness & Leadership

Builds confidence, personal strengths awareness, decision-making, and leadership roles in work and community.

  • Occupational Preparation & Practicum Support

Provides job-readiness training, coaching, and support for students engaged in practicum or internship experiences.

What you’ll do:

  • Teach weekly class sessions aligned with Country Roads curriculum
  • Create accessible, engaging lessons for diverse learners
  • Support students in building confidence, independence, and applied skills
  • Collaborate with staff to provide student progress updates
  • (For practicum instructors) Provide job site coaching and community-based instruction

The Country Roads program is an on-campus program designed for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The goal of the program is to prepare students with disabilities for independence by providing academic courses, social engagement and real-world work experiences. Students will live in a shared residential housing arrangement, participate in social activities across campus and receive career education and training.
