Music Therapy and Occupational Therapy students join forces to treat Parkinson's Disease

Hannah Bush, MMT, MT-BC, Jacob Greenfield, MOT, OTR/L, CSRS, and Kayleigh Nolan, MOT, OTR/L, SCLV,  in the Department of Human Performance have combined forces to co-treat patients with Parkinson's Disease in the community. The group provides much needed resources for patients with Parkinson’s while also providing clinical training opportunities for students. In addition, students get to learn from each other, as occupational therapy and music therapy students combine their skillsets to creatively address fine and gross motor skills, enunciation, and cognition.

What does the group look like?
While each week is different, thanks to the creativity and flexibility of our students, participants can expect to participate in a variety of interventions including stretching to live music, drumming, rhythmic tongue twisters, origami, dancing, and yoga. Participants have fun while working to maintain independence!

If you know someone in the community who would benefit from these experiences, contact Hannah Bush, Jacob Greenfield, or Kayleigh Nolan. They always welcome new community members!
