Dental students rewarded through generous donors
More than 30 students received scholarships this academic year
At West Virginia University School of Dentistry, a recent scholarship recognition program revealed the growing generosity of our supporters.
Annually, our students are the recipients of the graciousness of alumni and friends of the only dental school in West Virginia.
In 2002, ten endowed scholarships were awarded to 12 School of Dentistry recipients. A decade and a half later, through West Virginia University Foundation, the dental school handed out 37 scholarships to 46 students.
According to WVU Foundation, up to 70% of WVU students seek financial support to attend each year, and private scholarships not only make it possible for some students to attend WVU, but they help reduce or, in some cases, eliminate the student loan burden after graduation.
