Department of Neurosurgery names interim chair

Effective September 1, Peter E. Konrad, MD, PhD, will serve as interim chair, and Robert A. Marsh, MD, PhD, as vice chair of clinical operations for the School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Konrad was named executive director of translational neuroscience and innovation for the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and vice chair of the Department of Neurosurgery in September 2020. Currently, he holds the J.W. Ruby Chair and is the director of the Neural Device Center of Excellence.

Dr. Marsh served as a neurosurgeon with the United States Army from 2011-2013 and was on the clinical faculty at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine before coming to WVU in 2016.

Mark R. Lee, MD, PhD, will retain his clinical role in the Department of Neurosurgery.

A national search for a permanent department chair will begin immediately and will be conducted through the School of Medicine.
