Endodontics residents complete specialized training at WVU School of Dentistry

The West Virginia University School of Dentistry celebrated three residents upon completion of their specialized training in endodontics during a ceremony Friday, Aug. 8, at Hotel Morgan.

The Class of 2025 includes Dr. Andrew Marra, Dr. Fabiola Salgado-Reyes and Dr. Logan Williams.

Dr. Logan Williams, Dr. Fabiola Salgado-Reyes and Dr. Andrew Marra celebrate their completion of the advanced education program in endodontics with faculty members Dr. Steven Whitaker, Dr. Samuel Dorn and Dr. Mark Byron.

During the ceremony, Dr. Samuel Dorn, chair of the Department of Endodontics, offered his congratulations and the residents were presented with a certificate of completion. The event also offered the opportunity to celebrate with faculty, staff and current students in addition to family and friends.

Following their time at WVU, Dr. Marra will continue to serve patients in West Virginia, Dr. Salgado-Reyes will practice in Florida and Dr. Williams will practice in Virginia.

In addition to earning an M.S. in Endodontics, the 26-month program at WVU prepares trainees to achieve board certification in endodontics, a distinction held by only one in four endodontists in the U.S. Endodontists focus on the diagnosis and treatment of inner infections, working to preserve natural teeth. Less than 3% of licensed dentists are endodontists.

The program provides the education and clinical training necessary for specialty practice, teaching and research. During their training, residents provide patient care at WVU Dental, the clinical practice component of the WVU School of Dentistry offering care from faculty, resident and student dentists.

In addition to the Endodontics Program, the WVU School of Dentistry offers a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, Doctor of Dental Surgery, advanced education programs in Orthodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics, and residency programs in General Practice, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry.
