Family Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Haggerty to give presentation on primary care medical weight management

This week's Department of Family Medicine grand rounds will include a presentation from Treah Haggerty, M.D., on primary care medical weight management.

Dr. Haggerty is an associate professor for the Department of Medicine and the director of the Rural Scholars Program for the Department of Family Medicine. Her presentation is titled "Considering Health Disparities in Primary Care Medical Weight Management." Her presentation will focus on identifying barriers to adequate care for patients with obesity health care needs in rural areas, recognizing how factors of cultural identity and societal stigma can impact patients' acceptance of obesity care and recognizing the role physicians play in helping patients bridge the gap to utilize and find local resources.
