Keyser Campus nursing seniors participate in job fair

KEYSER, W. Va. — WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus seniors recently participated in a job fair to learn more about nursing opportunities at nearly a dozen healthcare facilities.

The event, held Feb. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Davis Conference Center at WVU Potomac State College, gave seniors the opportunity to speak with representatives from 11 healthcare facilities, as well as hear from a recent nursing graduate.

Aslyn Didawick, who graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the Keyser Campus in 2023, is now an RN1 in Labor and Delivery at Winchester Medical Center. She spoke with seniors about nursing tips for success in their first year in the field.

In a student survey following the event, one respondent said, “Getting to meet with and talk to representatives from different facilities helped me to better understand my decisions and which would be the best.”

Another added, “I liked having multiple facilities there that we could talk to and gain information about future job opportunities.”

“We sincerely appreciate the healthcare representatives who attended our event,” said Dr. April Shapiro, Keyser Campus Chair. “They not only support us in the clinical nursing education process but provide top-notch health care for people of our communities and region. We could not do what we do without them, and we do not take that for granted.”
