Wednesday, July 31

MS1 first day of Medical School!
WHAT TO WEAR: Dress Professionally.
WHAT TO BRING: Laptop with all cords; Photo ID
• The day will begin at 7:45 am and will end about 4:30pm
• Lots of presentations
• Get a professional headshot taken for your class composite and use in our online systems
• Learn about your new laptop


Thursday, Aug. 1

WELLNESS DAY! Everyone’s favorite day of the week
WHAT TO WEAR: Dress in comfy shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes.
WHAT TO BRING: Welcome to bring a backpack for your belongings and a water bottle.

• The day will begin at 7:30 am and will end around 5:00pm
• We will bus you to camp to spend the day in fun group activities
• Have a picnic
• Learn new wellness activities

Friday, Aug. 2

Clinical Campus Tours
WHAT TO WEAR: Business casual dress
• You will travel to one of our clinical campus sites in either Charleston or Eastern
• Depart from Morgantown campus at 7:30 am and arrive back around 5:00 pm

Presentations and Workshops back in Morgantown
• Business casual dress

• You’ll take Basic Life Support Certification training

• Business casual dress
• Day will begin at 8:00am and end around 4:00pm
• Presentations on Title IX, Student Services, Financial Aid, and more
• Introductions to coursework
• Q/A session with a group of M2 students

• Business casual dress
• Day will begin at 8:00am and end around 5:00pm
• A few more presentations including learning about Appalachian Culture
• Oath Ceremony Rehearsal
• Campus tour
• Student Organization Fair

Family Orientation and Oath Ceremony
WHAT TO WEAR: Professional Dress

• Your families are invited to come to Morgantown campus and meet with the Deans, staff, and
current students. They will receive invitations and details of this event in the mail.
• Oath Ceremony– A formal ceremony that marks your beginning as a medical student at West
Virginia University. You’ll recite and sign a professionalism oath and will receive your first
stethoscope. Begins at 5:00pm with a reception immediately following at 6:00pm

Friday, Aug. 9

Day Off!
• An opportunity to close any loose ends before your basic science coursework begins

Saturday, Aug. 10

WVU Med Ed Day at the Ballpark! If you’d like, join staff and students at Monongalia Ball Park as the WV

Black Bears take on the Williamsport Crosscutters. The game begins at 7:05 pm. More details including
tickets, a pre-game tailgate, etc. will be released soon!
