Moffett named assistant dean for Academic Personnel and Faculty Services

Kathryn Moffett, M.D., has been named assistant dean for School of Medicine Academic Personnel and Faculty Services, effective July 1.

In this newly-formed role, Dr. Moffett will work with the associate dean for Academic Personnel and Faculty Services, Robert Gustafson, M.D., to oversee the School of Medicine’s promotion and tenure process, including advising faculty relative to their file preparation and readiness for promotion.

She will also work with departments to assure files are prepared in accordance with School of Medicine and WVU policies as they relate to the faculty appointments, annual reviews and promotion. She will serve as part of the leadership team that supports faculty within the School of Medicine.

This new role will work under the mentorship of the associate dean for Faculty Affairs and the associate vice president for Academic Affairs.

“I am very honored to serve in the School of Medicine and work with Drs. Gustafson and Veselicky in this role,” Moffett said. “In addition, I am excited to assist our faculty through the promotion process.”

With more than 24 years at the University, Moffett has vast experience with clinical work, local, state and national service, teaching and scholarly activity. She previously served as the chair of the Department of Pediatrics Promotion and Tenure Committee.

“As a respected and long-standing faculty member with both clinical and academic experience, Dr. Moffett brings a combination of first-hand and institutional knowledge to this role,” said Clay Marsh, M.D., chancellor and executive dean for WVU Health Sciences.
